Yes, the number is 60 - today!! (She has had beautiful white hair for years already!)

Our friendship goes way back to high school, double dating, working at the same place of employment after graduation, bridesmaids in each other's wedding, phone conversations about raising our children and now....sharing grandchildren joys!

    Happy Birthday my dear Friend!

You've met Theda on here before as she celebrated her birthday in February. Today we scheduled the same restaurant.

I enjoy the laughter we share, the reminiscing, but the deep joy is having a challenging and meaningful conversation as happens so easily with these two dear friends. Theda shared some thoughts she has gleaned from some of the Old Testament books she's been reading...Isaiah to Ezekiel. Cille has been in the Psalms....especially mentioning different verses about "our hope in the Lord."  You leave encouraged and challenged!

This is so much Cille - a thinker......she also is very good at thinking before she speaks!

If you are at this restaurant on the day of your birthday, you are given a coupon to go next door to their bakery and choose a cookie to take home! Even though we had just finished our meal, everything looked delicious!!

This caught my eye as we entered the bakery.

Well, another special memory to tuck away in our hearts! I'm so very thankful our hearts can hold SOOO much!

  • Thanks for sharing those pictures, Cordy.  Good friends are a treasure.  Happy Birthday, Lucille.

  • Aww, what special friends you have.  What a blessing to have close girlfirends for so many years.  The only close friend I have had that long, is my husband!  Treasure your friends!!

  • What a wonderful privilege to have close friends as you do to be a blessing to each other.  That is a special treasure.

  • How wonderful to have such good friends for so many years. I'm glad you had an enjoyable time.

  • Special friendships like these seem to just keep getting stronger with each passing year!  I have one dear female friend who I've shared fellowship & deep friendship with for many years now & hope to be celebrating her 60th still talking about the Lord together one day!  Your posts always remind me to take joy in simple, precious pleasures!

  • I know how you feel about these women. I also have a couple of long time friends that conversation comes so easy with. Our common ground is the Lord and love to share the little gems we glean from the Word with each other. More often than not our time together is beneficial to us all and we feel as though we've heard from the Lord. I'm sure you know what I mean! One of them has been my prayer partner for many years and even though we don't talk with each other as often as we used to, we pick right back up and have awesome prayer together.

She lives in another state. Before we had good calling plans we used to buy those phone cards with 500 minutes on them and have a whopper of a meeting on the phone! We played praise music for each other that we had come across and shared scriptures that were central to our lives at the moment and of course prayed with each other. We used the whole card.

I've felt a stirring lately to get back into intercessory prayer and called her this week. She, of course, has felt a stirring as well. Saturday we have a phone appointment :) I'm so happy about that!

  • I love hearing about these long time friendships, such joy on your faces just radiates out...joy for each other and joy for the Lord.  Thank you for sharing this special day!!

  • @MelissaDSC - Melissa, I cannot tell you how you blessed me! You are a wonderful example of scripture where it tells us to rejoice with those who rejoice! I remember so very well when our children were young..I could not do as much as some others did because I had little ones to take care of. I want you to know when I posted my two days of scrapbooking with my daughter, I truly wondered if I should post that for those dear Mothers who may wish they could do something like that but cannot because of having little ones in the home.  And you were one I thought of - I didn't want to be a stumbling block. I pondered and pondered - and decided I could go ahead and I was so blessed when YOU responded so pleasantly to me and there again, you rejoiced with me. When I read your comment above, I just had to tell you what was going on in my heart back then and how you blessed me then - and now!  That day DOES come when these little ones are gone from our home and you wonder how in the world it happened sooooo quickly! Dear friend - Thank You for your kind attitude!
