  • My Dear Friends,

    I have greatly missed you!

How do I explain my absence? No, I have not moved to facebook although I visit there occasionally. I’m calling it “absent for a season.”

I had several projects started and was not getting them completed. I found I was neglecting nearby friends who needed encouragement. Some of the young girls that I taught in my Sunday School class have been in mission work and I’ve neglected staying in their lives. I guess it boils down that I don’t multi task well. I think I did when our children were growing up. Is that a sign of getting older?!

I look forward to coming back.  My head and heart are full of stories to share and pictures to show.

Nevin has been so very precious in my life ~ encouraging me and helping me. My winter project is finishing ABC albums for our grandchildren. This is taking each letter of the alphabet and adding several pictures to make it meaningful for them, individually. It’s not A for apple but a picture of them helping to make applesauce in our basement, for example. It is also journaling my thoughts. It is time consuming but a joy once I get started. I have two finished and six to go!! My goal is to finish four of them this winter.

I would like to leave a New Year’s Blessing for you.

“I am thinking of you today because it is New Year’s Day, and I wish you happiness. And tomorrow, because it will be the day after New Years, I shall still wish you happiness. I may not be able to tell you about it every day, because I may be far away or we may be very busy. But that makes no difference – my thoughts and wishes will be with you just the same. Whatever joy comes to you will make me glad. Clear through the year….I wish you God’s blessings.”

May His Presence always light your way.

    Love, Cordy

Before I leave for today, I want to share one of my “joys” this past year. You will remember Jo – she comes in our area once a year to spend the day with Nancy and me. Well, she had her 60th birthday this year. We wanted to bless her on this very special day. I called her daughter and asked her to tell Jo that someone was stopping in to take her for lunch. We drove almost two hours to do this so I thought we were pretty safe that she wouldn’t guess it would be Nancy and me. And I was correct :) ) This is Jo below just as we arrived……………

When our children were all still at home, we three couples would go to the mountains over Labor Day weekend. We have lots of memories that we cherish. As I mentioned we get to see each other once a year….and sometimes it’s longer then that for our husbands to get together. This is Jo’s husband, Duane. He was in the area and stopped in to see how Jo was handling her surprise! :)

It seemed like the time just flew. It was soon time to say goodbye for about another year. Thank you Lord for sisters in the Lord.

  • welcome back! :) and HAPPY new year~!

  • Oh, Cordy..I am so excited your are back and will be blogging again. Loved the post and what a surprise for your dear sister in Christ! I really missed you and your posts! Many blessings for the New Year.

  • It is a great blessing to see that you are back – and I enjoyed seeing familiar faces.

  • You are SUCH a sweetie! And what a beautifful idea for those albums! Rather than making an apple picture for A….I love your idea and the passion you have for doing that! I have found that as I get older, my ability to multi-task is dwindling. I think it’s kind of nice…that way you actually rest a bit and aren’t running around like a frazzled duck. I love how you said, “whatever joy comes to you will make me glad”! I feel the same, but you said it better than I could!  I look forward to more of your posts!

  • Welcome back!  I really respect that you took the time away that you needed… such worthy & important things to tend too.  I was praying for you as you had mentioned that you wanted to make things like that more of a focus & it sounds like it was fruitful!!!  The photo books sound so special… no doubt these lovely books will be treasured for years to come by your grandkids! It was so wonderful to read this update!!!  As always I enjoyed hearing about your adventures with dear friends & the special traditions & get togethers that you have continued over the years!  Your posts always remind me of the importance of fellowship!  Thank you for the new years blessing!  I hope & pray that 2012 is a wonderful year for you & your family… one filled with joy, blessing & delight as you walk with our gracious Lord & Savior!

  • Happy New Year!!

  • I’m glad you are back too. I would love to see your ABC books for the grandchildren. They sound wonderful.

  • Cordy!! Happy New Year, what a delight to see you back here blogging!!

  • you are missed greatly……..

  • Stopping by to say hello Cordie! : ) Will you be back to xanga? It seems xanga is a nice place to share without having to worry about being so polished, not that I am on blogger.; ) But it does seem more friendly here.

The girls made it safe and sound from China thank the good Lord with many stories praise His name!

I hope all is well with you Cordie, Love, Amelia

  • I was thinking about you today and really miss your posts. Of course, I should be one to talk, as I haven’t posted in so long. Just wanted to stop by Cordie and pray is all well with you and your family! God Bless.

  • @buana - Dear Jill, It was SO good to hear from you! Thank you for your kind words. I loved posting but it seems I then miss doing other things that I feel the Lord is asking me to do. It was so hard to give that up “for a season.” The season is going on longer than I thought. But I love to hear from my dear friends and thank you so much for sending a note. How are you and your dear hubby? I’m guessing Florida is most likely very comfortable in weather this time of year? I have a friend who just left yesterday with her parents (and her husband) to visit FL. The parents are in their mid 80′s. Her Dad’s dream was to see The Holy Land Experience and her mother’s was to take a train ride. So, they are doing both these things for their parents. I’m sure her parents are paying their own way but it is the gift of time (10 days) they are giving. Nevin and I were at the Holy Land Experience about 8 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it and were blessed.

You mentioned about us being well….I have something new I am experiencing since February – a bulging disc. I feel well when I stand, walk, and sleep. It wasn’t that way when this first happened. So I praise the Lord for that wonderful improvement. It is sitting that can get rough….sometimes goes well, sometimes it’s better if I stand. We are leaning on the Lord for wisdom.

One day our cares will be total JOY! :) I am thankful for the many blessings on this pilgrimage!

So grateful we will meet in Heaven!!! Blessings to you!
