Especially for Teresa.....

It's a small world, isn't it Teresa?!
For the rest of my friends.....some time ago Teresa saw a picture of this fellow on my blog and wondered if I would get back to her and tell me his name. She was so sure she recognized him! Here they are first cousins!
Our church called three new deacons in May. Some time after that our head deacon has a meeting at our home to explain things to them that will now be part of their lives. Did you know, Teresa, that Lelan and Jill are now deacons? After we finished with the business part of the evening, I asked them if I may take this picture to show you! They are a warm and caring couple. We have learned to love them.
Do you think this family enjoys applesauce?!
These are half gallon containers that we save just for freezing applesauce. Our daughter, Barb, the boys, and I worked at six baskets of the Lodi apples. It's an early apple so takes a bit more sugar than the fall apples but they love it. My preference is a later apple like Summer Rambo or Jonagold. I would really appreciate hearing from those of you who freeze applesauce. This is my question: what kind of apples do you mix that give a really good flavor? For years and years I made only Summer Rambo.

We have a Red Rome tree that I have used to make applesause. It has a sweeter taste & I usually don't use sugar to sweeten it since I am diabetic. But, your more tart Lodi with sugar would have a very good taste; Probably better than mine. . . JM74
Hi Cordy! I haven't made applesauce but I keep meaning to! I like Jonagolds also. We used to be able to pick apples at a nearby orchard and they were Jonagolds. I buy Figi apples at the store. I can imagine your applesauce is yummy. I need to go out and find an orchard somewhere! Love, GAil
Lelan was always out going even as a child ,so I am not surprised he is a deacon, the funny thing is Jill Is a relative of my Husband ,And Lelan is a relative of me
Jill would be a second cousin to my Husband ,I do not want to say her last name on here , But it is a small world !Lelan looks so much like his dad ! He has amazing family ,I remember his mom so clearly as a child she always loved to laugh ! Since my mom's illness I do not see them to much anymore ,But my childhood memoired still remain
sorry about the mispelling

I love jonagold apples & Miss Kyrie is a huge applesauce fan but I've never made any myself. I love baking with it as a sugar alternative too! Your batch looks delicious! It is amazing what a small world it is... especially in the community of believers! Thank you for your comment recently about the baby's name... how are Glenn & Dawn doing? Praying...
Well Cordy -- you know that Earl loves to eat!!! We have a Macintosh tree in the front yard and it makes great applesauce. But, the one thing I have learned is that I must let them sit 2 or 3 weeks after picking and them make applesauce. The apples seem to sweeten as they age and it does not take nearly as much sugar.
@homesteadingtess - It was a joy to show them just a bit of your xanga. It's so interesting to me - Lelan said the same thing about you, Teresa...that you are an outgoing person and it was a warm compliment!
