    Another Joy Experienced!

    I met Teresa - homesteadingtess!

Would you believe her husband and Nevin worked together for almost a year and neither she nor I knew it - until Teresa put it all together from something I wrote. She asked her husband and of course, he recognized Nevin from my pictures. We planned to meet last week at a Reuseit shop and she gave me this pizza seasoning that she made from drying different herbs. I told her later I should use it as potpourri because the first week almost everytime I walked by it, I took the lid off and smelled it!  It smells soooo good! I don't use many seasonings in cooking so I need to make some pizza and try it. That's a lot of work inside that little jar! Thank You, again, Teresa! Your bubbly personality was exactly how your cousin Lelan described you.

    A Special Day with Friends!

We three ladies meet once a year and have a meal together. Nancy is in the middle and that is about the only time I get to see her. Reba, on the right, I occasionally bump into throughout the year.  Nancy's first husband died about 25 years ago and we started this at that time - to try to encourage her.

The three of us have birthdays in September so we have continued this tradition just to keep in touch. Last year Reba mentioned that since we will be 60 this September, we should do something special together and include our husbands. Her Sunday School class planned a day in the Easton area and there was still room on the bus so they were encouraged to invite others. We did get to do just what Reba was wishing!

I'm not sure what was said; I just know Nevin had his camera ready at just the right time!! Nevin and the four of us pictured all graduated from the same high school and the same year! Neat! So the friendship of Reba, Nancy, and I goes way back. (Nevin and I started dating in our senior year!  )  We represent these backgrounds - Mennonite, Brethren-in-Christ - and Church of the Brethren.

This was on their schedule - a ride on the canal. Our canal boat was pulled by these mules which is how the barges were pulled through the canal years ago.

Nearby was the Crayola factory where we saw them demonstrate the making of crayons. This is the world's largest crayon.

This is one of my precious friends. She and her husband are also in this Sunday School class with Reba and her husband, Lloyd. She is my neighbor and we try to walk once a week together. We both were looking for something for our grandchildren here but only found this area ten minutes before we needed to meet the bus!! Neither of us can shop that quickly, wisely.   (Someone thought we were sisters!)

We took our own packed lunch for noon but for supper we were scheduled to be at Kauffman's Restaurant, near Rehrersburg, where they specialize in Bar-B-Q chicken.   This just really caught my eye - from this point-of-view it doesn't look too appetizing but it was oh so good! You will notice potatoes in there also. There were many other items to choose from.  This restaurant is different but very delightful.

Right next to the restaurant they have a miniature golf course with a beautiful countryside scenery. Out of the six of us, Nevin had the highest score.  I just love this man - we soon celebrate our 40th anniversary!

Here we're showing off our appearance!

He just walked among us in the golf course as we enjoyed the evening . I've never experienced being that close to a peacock!

We got back to our cars about 8:30, gave some hugs, and were grateful for this special day together.

  • Another wonderful day with friends!  I would just love the opportunity to meet some Xanga friends!  I sure hope to cultivate strong, godly friendships that last over the years as you have done!  I always enjoy reading about your many adventures... you seem to have a knack for finding interesting things to do!  The chicken looks amazing & the peacock is just lovely!  I'm always amazed at peacocks... the Lord is so creative with His many creatures!

  • @setapart1979 - Thank You, Amber. I truly am grateful for the many friends God has brought into my life over the years - and now, new ones that I praise Him for.

I am on behind in visiting friends right now - I look forward to catching up soon. When I saw your comment I quickly wanted to thank you for your faithfulness in praying for Dawn and Glenn. I was a bit discouraged today - you might see I have entered another writing....Glenn had a seizure today (on my birthday) and my heart really hurts for all of them - including their children. They are such a close family. We just want to lean on the Lord as He  promises to walk beside us - always! He asks us to place our burdens upon Him.

Well, it is late here in PA. so I'd best join my dear wise hubby who has been sleeping hours ago! Blessings to you; I continue to pray for you and your little one! ~Cordy
