I need to tell you I'm a homebody!! Our daughter, Barb, is pretty much the same way. For either of us to go away without our family is really rare. When I heard my Creative Memories consultant say she is going to have her second C.M. Retreat, we sought our dear husbands' blessing to be a part of this since it involved approximately 40 hours. With their agreement we prepared to go.....feeling like two little girls on a huge outing!!!! I can hear someone say -"You don't get away enough!!"
But we enjoy being at home so when we do go (rarely!!) it is truly extra, extra special and we have deeply grateful hearts for the privilege ahead of us. This paragraph is to explain the above poster. I had it inside the door for when I returned home!!! This is the special lady who planned, organized, packed, cooked, and baked for this two day joyous privilege! I am so grateful that she does not have this two day scrapbooking including a Sunday. That has been something I believe our Heavenly Father smiles upon as she keeps Sunday set aside to worship - and young Mothers can be back home to help prepare little ones for Sunday School and Church.
This creative school teacher found a way to braid her ribbon.....I think my eyes would cross!!
Ruth needed a different angle for her picture. I heard her say, "A woman's gotta do what a woman's gotta do!"
A friend of ours has a cricut and gladly allowed us to borrow it!
Kate and her mother, Barb, discussing a few pictures.
When the Lord gave gifts, creativity was not one of mine.
I love to scrapbook; I love to journal but my pages are very average. I enjoyed taking pictures of others' creativity!I enjoyed seeing these girls' gifts flow!! I don't think you have to do Creative Memories to preserve your photos but it does make a lovely album to treasure! My pages turn into more of a diary-type book as that's my delight. Two days to do this was truly something I did not take for granted!! Topping the entire two days was spending that time with my daughter! It was a wonderful gift!!
Barb was to my right. We would scrapbook awhile, talk a little, scrapbook.......
In the 16 years that Barb is married, this is only the second time that we had this kind of experience! This will help you understand why I put that poster where I will see it when I enter my door upon arriving home!!
Jewel won the prize for getting the most pages finished over these two days!
Teresa stopped in for just a short time with her 8 week old baby daughter! Scrapbooking was put aside for a little to welcome this teeny little one! (Joy, Melissa and Jewel)
Susie (our consultant) made our lunch and supper on Friday....she is such a g-o-o-d cook! This was our evening dessert! Saturday was a beautiful, brisk winter day. We walked a short distance to the dining hall for our meals that day.
This is Saturday and our hours here are coming to a close, way too quickly! It has been a gift to be here! (I believe I've said that before!) Your joys are found in various places. But you know what it is like to be handed something that is meaningful, something you rarely do - and told to enjoy it!! Thank You Nevin and Jere!
I needed to look at that poster several times the following days!!

Oh Mother, what wonderful memories!! I loved those two days together! It was fun to re-live those days by looking at your pictures!
That looks like so much fun to do with your daughter. I have not had the opportunity to do that with Sue and Sheryl in a long, long time and seeing your pictures makes me want to do it again. I think the last time we did it was for a Longaberger trip before Sue was married and that was over 10 years ago. Our daughter's are very special young women!!!!! What a blessing to get to spend those precious hours together.
OH goodness, how in the world did I miss this post! What a wonderful delight to have such a memorable time with your daughter, friends and doing something really enjoyable. And you know, it isn't necessarily even the scrapbooking part, it was just the being able to spend that special close time with your daughter...those are rare treats as we grow older and our families take us away from time with our parents.
I have not gotten into paper scrapbooking, I have done rubber stamping for a number of years, but put those away when my little ones got big enough to get into things...and then in 2007 I jumped into Digital Scrapbooking....same as the paper but all on the computer....I liked that a lot, but again, sitting at the computer meant I was not tending to my family, so that has been set aside for the time being until another season of life.
I am thankful that the Lord blessed you and your daughter with a wonderful memory to last into eternity.
@MelissaDSC - You captured the words I couldn't find as the time together with Barb meant so very much - "a wonderful memory to last into eternity!" You have understood my heart! Barb pours her all into her children so we just don't take this kind of opportunity very often. Thank you Melissa and blessings as you set aside your own hobbies to focus on your children. I KNOW when the children are grown and leave home, you Mothers will never regret it.
